Ducklings at Springtime. Spring has sprung
Spring has sprung at Morndyke. It’s certainly the time of year for new life – it’s springing up every where! The countryside is flooded with babies. It’s about this time when the ducklings hatch – I love the quote from a favourite childhood book of my kids: ‘All the Places to Love’, that describes ducklings as ‘tiny tumbles of leaves’. They certainly are. Even the hardened farmers and fisherman’s eyes soften at the site of these innocent little darlings. God help any cat or fox that gets too close. These men are maternal! Well that’s until the ducklings grow and don’t look quite so sweet – more juicy. Poor little loves. It’s not great when you’re a vegetarian living in a world of carnivores. In the mean time these little angels have many guardian angels looking over them.
