Morndyke Fishery
Morndyke Fishery is a 1.7 acre lake that is stocked with mirror & common carp, barbel, roach, green and golden tench and chub as well as eels and an array of water birds.
Aerated through the night in summer to oxygenate the water, the lake sustains a vast number of fish that range in size up to the largest carp at 28lbs.
There are 27 platforms (pegs) to fish from, all of which can be accessed easily from the path around the lake. There is a substantial car park at the north side that we ask you to park in. An island and walkway splits the lake on one side. The walkway can be fished from the pegs.
We provide a Portaloo for your convenience, situated at the NorthWest corner of the site near the car park.
From March 2020, a sandwich, snack and drinks van (‘Proper Tasty’) will visit each day, mid morning (between 10am and 12pm)
We are open 365 days a year, please refer to the rules section for opening times and prices.
The fishery was first established as a public fishing lake in 2003 and has been beautifully maintained and run by the Phillips’ family since it was first opened. Although fish have been residing in the lake for many decades prior to the lake opening to the public.
The lake was originally a clay quarry that provided the long-gone kiln with material for making bricks. The depth of the water ranges from approx 2 feet to 12 feet with a deep silt base.
We pride ourselves on the quality, health and vitality of the fish, and the beauty of the setting . We are purely a pleasure fishing lake and do not hold matches or allow night fishing. The welfare of the fish and the other wildlife are our top priority.
